PUEBLO -

A Pueblo family is pleased to report they've recovered a special needs stroller swiped from their driveway this past weekend. A man and a woman came forward to the family after seeing our story on News 5.

The people from Pin Up Customs told the family he found it dumped on the side of Highway 50 on Sunday afternoon, but didn't know where it came from until he watched the news.

There are some problems with the wheels that will need to be fixed before the family can get rolling again.

"They are good people and I got a positive vibe that they are genuine people who were glad they saw the news! They are Katie's new Angels!!" says Mary-Alicia Verdecchia.

Her 8-year-old daughter Katie is non-verbal, suffering from aicardi, asthma and autism. The family just received the stroller worth more than $1,000 the other day.

Going for long walks or runs in the area helped stimulate Katie. "She always seeks out moving objects, blinking lights and so we found out pretty quickly that she just loved running with us," said Verdecchia.

But when they stopped for a quick outfit change at their home someone stole the stroller out of the bed of a pickup.

"It was so fast and I felt so stupid that that I trusted our neighborhood," said Verdecchia.

"I don't even think they realized what they were taking, make my child's life happy again. Please return my daughter's chair, she just got it and it is a wonderful chair for children with disabilities," said Verdecchia.
